Learning Support Assistant – Caterham
Dunbar Education is recruiting a Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a welcoming secondary school in Caterham, Surrey, from September.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with experience supporting secondary-aged students who is passionate about helping young people develop academically, socially and personally.
You will work closely with teachers and the wider support team, helping students access learning and get the most from their education.
Key Responsibilities
- Support students within the classroom
- Provide 1:1 and small-group support
- Help students access and engage with the curriculum
- Support pupils with additional learning needs
- Encourage positive behaviour, confidence and independence
- Assist teachers with classroom activities and resources
- Build positive and professional relationships with students
- Work collaboratively with teaching, pastoral and SEND staff
- Help maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment
The Ideal Candidate
- Previous experience working with secondary-aged students is essential
- Previous LSA, Teaching Assistant or Learning Mentor experience is desirable
- SEND experience would be advantageous
- Confident supporting students with different learning needs
- Patient, positive and approachable
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Reliable and committed to working Monday–Friday
- Passionate about supporting young people's education and development
