Job Description:
The Bath Soft Cheese Co is an award-winning artisan cheesemakers with over 100 years of farming heritage. At our dairy outside Bath in Somerset, we make cheeses by hand using milk from our own herd. Our cheeses have won multiple awards in recent years including World Cheese Champion (Bath Blue) and International Supreme Champion (Wyfe of Bath).
The iconic Borough Market is home to our flagship cheese stall and ‘The Bath Dairy’ ; our first hot food stall, which opened in 2019. Since then we have expanded our hot food enterprise into Old Spitalfields Market.
We're looking to hire a team member to help us across all areas of our business including, Cheese Stall, The Bath Dairy (Borough and Spitalfields).
Essential Criteria:
- Must have a minimum of 2 years Kitchen/Chef experience.
- Must be reasonably physically fit and able - we are a small market based business and lifting and carrying are a daily feature at the market.
- Must have at least 2 years customer service experience.
- Must possess a current manual UK driving licence and be prepared to do some driving in a small transit style van as part of the position. No commercial driving experience is required however we do ask that you are a confident driver with an awareness of London charging zones and the sometimes challenging driving conditions in the city. Full training on the driving aspect of the role can be provided.
Desirable Criteria:
- Food Safety Level 2 Certificate (this can be provided).
- Ideally over 25 for vehicle insurance purposes however if you are 21-25 with a strong CV please submit an application. Unfortunately we cannot insure anyone under 21.
- Deli or Cheese Counter experience.
Key Responsibilities:
-As mentioned we require an applicant for this position to be spread over various sides of the business (located in SE1 AND EC1) therefore the weekly key responsibilities will vary, however they're generally covered by the following:
- Cheese Stall:
- Helping to open the shop for a days trading, full clean and restock.
- Engaging with customers and selling Cheese, Ice Cream and Milkshakes.
- Maintaining and updating food safety, health and safety and equipment maintenance records.
- Potentially driving for deliveries
- Manual Handling - receiving deliveries etc
- Maintaining high standards of cleanliness.
- Working in other parts of the business as required to cover holidays and absence
- The Bath Dairy
- Helping to set up the Dairy stall, the Bath Dairy is a Hawker stall that needs to be set up every day.
- Aiding in the food preparations for the day, including prepping our wheels of cheese, onions, potatoes etc.
- Cooking Mac & Cheese and Tartiflette, these are the two flagship dishes of Bath Dairy.
- Serving customers
- Maintaining a clean and positive attitude and appearance.
Pay: £14.80 per hour
