We're working with a well-established independent insurance broker that is looking to add an experienced Account Handler to its specialist schemes team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working closely with clients, wants to develop their technical insurance knowledge and is looking to join a business where there is genuine opportunity to build a long-term career.
You'll be joining a friendly, close-knit team working within a specialist commercial insurance scheme, supporting a portfolio of clients across a defined sector. The role also offers the opportunity to underwrite risks with delegated authority.
The Role
You'll play a key role in managing relationships with existing clients while also supporting new business opportunities. The role covers the full insurance lifecycle, giving you plenty of variety and responsibility rather than focusing solely on administration.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing a portfolio of commercial insurance clients
- Handling new business enquiries from initial enquiry through to placement
- Managing renewals and maintaining strong client relationships
- Processing mid-term adjustments and policy amendments
- Providing day-to-day advice and support to clients
- Understanding clients' businesses and identifying their insurance requirements
- Working within delegated underwriting authority to assess and quote suitable risks
- Ensuring policies are accurately administered and maintained
- Delivering a consistently high level of customer service
You'll have the opportunity to become a specialist within your market, developing a strong understanding of the risks faced by your clients and becoming a trusted point of contact.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone with a solid grounding in commercial insurance who is ready to take their experience into a specialist environment.
You'll ideally have:
- 2+ years' commercial insurance experience - this is essential.
- Experience in an Account Handler, Account Executive or similar client-facing position
- Good understanding of commercial insurance products and processes
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Strong attention to detail and organisational ability
- A genuine customer-first approach
- Confidence dealing with clients, insurers and internal stakeholders
- A willingness to learn and develop specialist knowledge
Experience of scheme business, delegated authority or commercial underwriting would be advantageous, although applications from strong commercial insurance professionals looking to develop in these areas will also be considered.
