Wood Machinist
Full Time – 41.5 Hour Basic Week
Salary Starting Negotiable based on Experience

We are currently looking to recruit a Machine Operative to join our workshop team, based in Bildeston. Our site supports various clients and projects across the UK. You will be involved in the construction of components, ensuring that the highest standards of finish and tolerances in accordance with information supplied, are achieved using the correct methods. The position is predominantly Monday to Friday, however there is an element of flexibility to cover some overtime as and when needed.

Main Responsibilities:
- Cut and shape timber using conventional machinery such as planers, thicknessers, crosscut saw, table saw, moulders, and spindle moulders
- Check and maintain machinery to ensure optimum performance
- Clean workshop tools and service equipment
- Understand technical drawings
- Accurately set machines up to joinery requirements
- Able to identify timber defects and effectively communicate those to fellow colleagues
- Working closely with the Mill Manager and keeping them informed of any issues
- Any other duties the Company may ask you to perform
- Working to the high level of quality expected within the Department.
- Ensuring compliance with all Company Quality and Environment Procedures
- Ensuring compliance with all Company Health & Safety Policies and Procedures
Necessary Skills/Aptitude/Knowledge/Experience:
- High quality of woodworking knowledge and skills
- Able to operate conventional machinery
- Understand tolerances
- Knowledge of jointing timber and specialist joinery
- Able to understand architect and construction issue drawings
- H&S Awareness in using machinery
- Good time management and time keeping
- Ability to prioritise workload and deal with busy deadlines
- Good attention to detail
Desirable Skills/Aptitude/Knowledge/Experience:
- Understanding of CNC machinery
- Experience in the use of edgebander
- Experience in the use of beam saw
