About Us
Woodcraft Flooring is a family-run bespoke hardwood flooring company with over 25 years of experience supplying, manufacturing and installing premium wooden floors throughout the UK.
We specialise in luxury residential and commercial projects, with all finishing and much of our manufacturing carried out in-house. Our showroom in St Albans showcases a wide range of bespoke flooring collections.
We are looking for a motivated, friendly and organised person to join our team for an initial one-month contract, with the possibility of a permanent position if it’s the right fit.
Working Hours
Monday – Saturday9:00am – 5:00pm
One-hour lunch break.
Your Responsibilities
Your role will include a variety of showroom, marketing and administrative duties including:
- Greeting customers visiting the showroom.
- Showing clients flooring samples and answering basic questions.
- Answering telephone calls and responding to enquiries.
- Responding to emails and following up with potential customers.
- Contacting architects, interior designers and property professionals.
- Assisting with customer quotations and enquiries.
- Creating one social media post per day across our platforms.
- Uploading at least one Instagram/Facebook story per day.
- Helping keep the showroom clean, tidy and presentable.
- General administration as required.
No previous flooring experience is required—we will teach you everything you need to know.
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone who is:
- Friendly and confident speaking with customers.
- Well presented (smart casual dress).
- Organised and able to work independently.
- Comfortable using computers and social media.
- A good communicator with excellent spoken and written English.
- Reliable and punctual.
- Willing to learn.
Essential Requirements
- Own laptop.
- Confident using Microsoft Office/Google Workspace.
- Comfortable using Instagram and Facebook.
- Able to travel to our St Albans showroom.
- Ideally local or have access to a car.
Commission
If you generate your own sales during your employment, you’ll receive:
2.5% commission on the material value of every sale you secure, in addition to your normal pay.
Training
We don’t expect you to know our products immediately.
On your first day we’ll spend time walking you through:
- Our products.
- Different types of flooring.
- How our business operates.
- Our pricing.
- Common customer questions.
- How we communicate with clients.
We’ll make sure you’re comfortable before you’re expected to deal with customers on your own.
You’ll always be able to contact me if you have any questions or need help.
The Showroom
You’ll have your own desk in our comfortable showroom which includes:
- High-speed WiFi.
- Kitchen facilities.
- Toilet.
- Alexa speaker.
- Comfortable working environment.
There is a shop approximately 30 metres away and St Albans town centre is only 200 metres away, making lunch breaks convenient.
Customer Traffic
This is not a busy retail shop.
On weekdays we typically welcome 1–3 customers across the entire week, giving you plenty of uninterrupted time to work on marketing, emails and contacting potential clients.
Weekends are generally busier, with around 5–7 visitors.
Parking & Travel
Paid parking is available nearby (approximately £17 per day).
For many applicants, travelling by public transport may be the more economical option.
