Company Overview
Guide Flyfishing proudly represents a portfolio of fly fishing’s world-leading brands. Our passion and commitment drive us to collaborate with the industry’s leading brands to refine existing products and even develop new ones. We ensure that our offerings cater to the unique demands of UK Scandinavian and Irish fisheries and those anglers venturing to distant waters.
The Role
We are a growing business operating within the specialist fly fishing market. As our operations expand, we are looking for an ambitious, hands-on Management Accountant who wants to own our day-to-day finance function and actively scale alongside us.
This is a unique opportunity for a driven finance professional. You will start by taking full ownership of our management accounts and financial operations, working closely with the Directors. For the right candidate, this role features a structured progression path to step up into the Head of Finance position as the business grows.
Key Responsibilities
Management Accounting & Reporting
- Produce comprehensive monthly management accounts, including clear variance analysis and tracking of key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Monitor inventory valuation, landed costs, and international logistics expenditure.
- Develop clear financial reporting to support operational decision-making across the business.
Financial Operations & Systems
- Oversee day-to-day finance functions, including cash management, bank reconciliations, and multi-currency transactions.
- Manage Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, maintaining strong supplier relationships and tight credit control.
- Ensure all VAT, payroll, corporation tax, and statutory reporting requirements are completed accurately and on time.
- Maintain effective financial controls and identify opportunities to improve the efficiency of Sage 50 and associated systems.
Strategic Progression
- Strategic Financial Planning: Stepping up to build and maintain the business's long-term financial models and cash flow forecasts independently to advise the Directors on growth decisions.
- Commercial Analysis: Proactively analysing margins, inventory and overheads.
- External Relations: Gradually taking over as the primary financial contact for banks, insurers, and external providers
Required Skills and Experience

- Mindset: A practical, hands-on approach. You must be completely comfortable managing the day-to-day transactional bookkeeping while demonstrating the ambition to step into a leadership role.
Desirable
- Experience within distribution, wholesale, import/export, retail, or e-commerce, including a working knowledge of stock tracking, multi-currency trading, or supply chains.
