Summer Café Assistant / Barista
Seasonal Role (July – End of August / Early September)

We are a busy, friendly neighbourhood café looking for a reliable and enthusiastic Café Assistant / Barista to join our team for the summer season.
This role would suit someone who enjoys working with people, has a passion for good coffee, and thrives in a fast-paced café environment. For the right person, there may be an opportunity to continue with us as a regular weekend team member after the summer period.
About the Role
You will be involved in a variety of café duties, including:
- Welcoming customers and providing warm, friendly service
- Taking orders, processing payments, and using the till system
- Preparing quality hot and cold drinks, including barista coffee
- Supporting food preparation including sandwiches, light meals, and baked goods
- Keeping the café clean, tidy, and well organised
- Checking stock levels and helping with daily café operations
- Following food hygiene and safety procedures
- Answering customer questions and handling feedback positively
- Supporting customers with dietary requirements and allergies
What We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous barista experience (essential)
- Café, hospitality, or customer service experience (preferred)
- Good communication skills and a friendly personality
- Ability to work efficiently during busy periods
- Confidence using a till and handling payments
- A positive attitude and willingness to support the team
- Good understanding of food hygiene standards
Working Hours
Summer period (July – end of August / early September):
- Flexible part-time shifts, including busy periods and weekends
After summer:
- Opportunity to continue with regular weekend shifts (Saturday & Sunday) for the right team member
