The Role
Working alongside the Registered Manager and Deputy Manager, you'll provide day-to-day leadership within the home, ensuring children receive exceptional care and your team is supported to deliver the highest standards every day.
You'll lead shifts, mentor colleagues, and be a positive role model, ensuring every child receives the consistency, care, and encouragement they need to flourish.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Build positive, trusting relationships with children and young people.
- Deliver nurturing, therapeutic, and child-centred care that promotes safety, stability, and emotional wellbeing.
- Support children to achieve positive outcomes in education, health, independence, and personal development.
- Encourage children to develop confidence, resilience, and life skills while celebrating their achievements.
Leading Your Team
- Lead shifts with confidence, ensuring the home runs smoothly and safely.
- Support, motivate, and mentor Residential Support Workers.
- Lead by example and promote a positive, professional culture.
- Share knowledge, encourage reflective practice, and support colleagues' development.
- Ensure effective communication throughout every shift.
Safeguarding and Quality
- Champion safeguarding and promote the welfare of every child.
- Ensure all care is delivered in line with Children's Homes Regulations, Quality Standards, and safeguarding procedures.
- Complete accurate records, reports, and documentation.
- Support audits, inspections, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain a safe, caring, and welcoming home environment.
Working Together
- Build positive relationships with families, social workers, education providers, health professionals, and external agencies.
- Contribute to care planning, risk assessments, and placement reviews.
- Support children during appointments, activities, and community engagement.
Who We're Looking For
We're looking for people who combine compassion with leadership and have the confidence to inspire others.
- Experience working within children's residential care.
- A Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
- Experience leading shifts or supervising colleagues.
- A genuine passion for improving the lives of children and young people.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- A positive, resilient, and solution-focused approach.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- A full UK driving licence.
