Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Garage Manager / Mechanic to join and take responsibility for the day-to-day running of our busy garage in Llandudno.
This is a hands-on role. We are not looking for someone who simply manages the workshop – the successful candidate will be an experienced mechanic who is happy to work alongside the team, diagnose faults and carry out servicing and repairs while also managing the daily operation of the garage.
Being a qualified MOT Tester would be an advantage but is not essential.
Main Duties
- Carry out servicing, maintenance and mechanical repairs
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults
- Carry out brakes, suspension, clutches, timing belts/chains and general repairs
- Work alongside and support the other mechanics
- Manage the day-to-day running of the workshop
- Allocate and organise jobs between technicians
- Manage bookings and workshop workload
- Ensure work is completed correctly and on time
- Deal directly with customers and explain required repairs
- Prepare estimates and quotations
- Order parts and deal with suppliers
- Manage and motivate workshop staff
- Maintain high standards of workmanship and customer service
- Ensure health & safety procedures are followed
- Carry out MOT tests if qualified
- Help ensure the garage operates efficiently and profitably
What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate will:
- Be an experienced and competent vehicle mechanic/technician
- Have strong fault-finding and diagnostic abilities
- Be capable of carrying out a wide range of vehicle repairs
- Have previous management, supervisory or workshop controller experience, although we will consider an experienced senior mechanic ready to step up
- Be organised and able to manage a busy workshop
- Be confident dealing with customers and staff
- Have a full UK driving licence
- Ideally hold an MOT Tester qualification, although this is not essential
Salary
Salary is negotiable and will depend on experience, qualifications and ability.
