Job Overview
We are seeking two skilled and reliable Press Brake Operators to join our manufacturing team in Alton. You will be responsible for operating and setting press brake machinery to produce high quality sheet metal components to accurate specifications.
The ideal candidate will have previous experience operating press brakes within a manufacturing or fabrication environment, with a strong understanding of drawings, measurements, tooling and quality standards. This is a hands-on role where attention to detail, accuracy and a commitment to producing high quality work are essential.
Duties
- Set and operate press brake machinery to produce sheet metal components in line with engineering drawings and specifications
- Select and fit the appropriate tooling for each job
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, dimensions and measurements
- Set machine parameters including bend angles, back gauges and material positioning
- Inspect finished components to ensure accuracy, quality and dimensional requirements are met
- Carry out first off checks and make adjustments to machine settings where required
- Work with a range of sheet metals and varying material thicknesses
- Complete bending and forming operations efficiently while maintaining high quality standards
- Identify and report any quality issues, machine faults or problems with materials
- Carry out basic maintenance and housekeeping of machinery and the working area
- Use hand tools and other fabrication equipment where required
- Work closely with colleagues across the manufacturing team to ensure production targets are achieved
- Follow all company health and safety procedures and maintain a clean and safe working environment
Qualifications
- Previous experience operating and setting a Press Brake within a manufacturing or fabrication environment
- Good understanding of sheet metal fabrication and bending processes
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Strong understanding of measurements, angles and dimensions
- Experience selecting and changing press brake tooling
- Good attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work
- Ability to identify and rectify basic issues with machine settings and finished components
- Mechanical aptitude and confidence using hand tools and fabrication equipment
- Experience with grinding, welding or general sheet metal fabrication would be advantageous
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Reliable, safety-conscious and able to work to production deadlines
