Job Overview
We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Grounds Operator / HGV Class 2 Driver to join our team based at Birmingham Wholesale Market.
This is a varied role involving forklift operation, loading and unloading goods, manual handling, and providing holiday cover for our delivery drivers. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring goods are handled safely and efficiently while supporting the smooth day-to-day operation of the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
- Load and unload goods from lorries and containers.
- Carry out manual handling and heavy lifting duties as required.
- Store, move, and organise stock within the warehouse and market environment.
- Drive a HGV Class 2 vehicle to deliver goods to customers when required, providing cover for drivers during holidays or absence.
- Work closely with colleagues to ensure tasks are completed accurately and on time.
- Maintain high standards of health and safety at all times.
Requirements
Essential
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- HGV Class 2 (Category C) Licence.
- CPC qualification.
- Ability to carry out manual handling and heavy lifting safely.
- Good communication skills and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Preferred
- Valid forklift operator certification.
- Previous experience operating forklifts in a warehouse, market, or logistics environment.
Working Hours
Monday to Saturday – Approx 50 hours a week
Start time will vary depending on duties but can be from 1am
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: From £11.44 per hour
