Competitive Salary
We are seeking a motivated and reliable Nursery Cook to join our team at Cherry Blossom Nursery School - Claverhouse. The cook will be responsible for meals, cleaning, organized and efficient kitchen environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a passion for working in a fast-paced culinary environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Food Preparation: Assist in the basic preparation of ingredients, including washing, peeling, and chopping fruit & vegetables, as well as preparing afternoon snacks.
- Cleaning and Sanitizing: Ensure that all kitchen areas, utensils, and equipment are kept clean and sanitized according to health and safety regulations.
- Dishwashing: Operate the dishwasher and hand wash pots, pans, and other kitchen utensils as needed. Ensure all items are properly stored after cleaning.
- Inventory Management: Assist with receiving and storing deliveries, ensuring that all items are properly labelled and stored in their correct locations. Monitor stock levels and report shortages to the Nursery Manager.
- Waste Management: Dispose of waste in a timely and efficient manner, ensuring that recycling and food waste procedures are followed.
- Health and Safety Compliance: Follow all health and safety guidelines, including proper food handling procedures and the wearing of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Record Management: Keep abreast of all Health & Safety, and Cook Safe guidelines, and ensure relevant procedures are followed and recorded on a daily basis.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Previous experience in a kitchen or food service environment is preferred but not required. Training will be provided.
- Skills: Basic knowledge of kitchen equipment and food safety standards. Strong organizational skills and the ability to work efficiently under pressure.
- Work Ethic: Must be punctual, reliable, and able to work as part of a team.
Work Schedule:
Pro Rate, Monday to Friday - 08:30am - 12:30pm

16 hours per week
