We are seeking to appoint a Fixed Term Consultant in General (Internal) Medicine to join our supportive, friendly and forward thinking team making a total of 19 Acute Medicine consultants across 3 acute care hospitals. These posts aim to support the expansion of the Acute Medicine Department in line with the Trust strategy to provide outstanding care, personally delivered in the urgent care stream. The successful candidates will be part of a dynamic and diverse team, based in one of our three acute hospitals and collaborating to implement best practice and achieve the best possible outcomes for our patients and the best possible work experience for our teams.
Successful candidate must be currently working at a Specialty Doctor or equivalent with experience of Acute medicine. The successful candidate will have the opportunity for further development and be supported by a clinical supervisor as part of their career progression.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Fixed Term Consultant in General Medicine to join our dedicated healthcare team. In this role, you will manage a diverse patient population, delivering high-quality care across both inpatient and outpatient settings. You will act as the clinical lead for patients with complex, multi-system pathologies, coordinating multidisciplinary care to optimize patient outcomes.
Diagnose and treat a wide spectrum of clinical problems, ranging from acutely ill young persons to elderly patients with multiple complex comorbidities.
Provide expert care for patients who do not fall into the remit of a specific medical specialty or who present with complex medical problems involving multiple symptoms.
Deliver continued care in both inpatient and outpatient settings, directing treatment plans and orchestrating specialist input when required.
Work collaboratively within the ward-based multidisciplinary team to ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality inpatient care.

Specific duties of the role include but are not limited to;
- To Diagnose and treat a wide spectrum of clinical problems, ranging from the acutely ill young person to the elderly patients with multiple complex co morbidities.
- To look after patients that do not fall into the remit of a specific medical speciality or are deemed to have complex medical problems involving multiple symptoms and co morbidities.
- To provide continued care both in the inpatient and outpatient setting for this patient group. The Internal Medicine physician would both direct treatment of such patients and orchestrate specialist care where needed.
