This role is ideal for someone at an early stage in their career who is keen to build a future in civil & structural engineering, with strong technical support, real project exposure, and clear development opportunities.
The Cardiff office has worked on a range of exciting projects, including:
- Network Rail – including the Western Fabrics Programme at stations such as Exeter St Davids, Stroud, Maidenhead and Penzance, and the Wales Fabrics Programme at Abergavenny, Chester and Llandudno.
- Transport for Wales – station, building, canopy and structural refurbishment schemes across the Wales rail network.
- Ponts Mill Viaduct Refurbishment – permanent and temporary works design for strengthening a 150-year-old, 80m-long viaduct
- Principality Stadium, Cardiff – SCALE Attraction – permanent structural design delivered within a live, high-profile environment.
- Par Station Access for All – multidisciplinary rail project involving architecture, MEP, telecoms, geotechnics, fire and signalling.
Some of the main responsibilities of the Graduate Engineer will include:
- Working within a multi-disciplinary design team on a varied portfolio of UK projects including rail and road bridges, footbridges, stations, level crossings, buildings, and wider infrastructure.
- Supporting the design of new bridges and the assessment, repair, and strengthening of existing structures.
- Assisting with project delivery from feasibility through to construction support, helping meet programme and budget requirements.
- Attending site surveys and client meetings, developing confidence in a client-facing role.
- Building project management skills, including exposure to bidding, tendering, and delivery processes.
- Gaining insight into the commercial and financial aspects of project delivery.
- Supporting technical activities such as structural inspections, surveys, feasibility studies, and programme preparation.
- Reviewing designs and calculations produced by others under supervision.
You’ll be supported by experienced senior engineers within a fast-growing Civil & Structural team, with clear pathways for development, including support towards Chartered Engineer status and opportunities to broaden your skills beyond pure design.
