Stone Restorer (Sandstone Tenements, Glasgow/Central Belt)
Role Summary
A Stone Restorer working predominantly in Glasgow/Central Belt, is responsible for the repair, conservation, and sympathetic restoration of traditional masonry using lime mortar and the correct tooling techniques. The role blends craftsmanship, building restoration, and heritage conservation, ensuring the long‑term survival of Scotland’s iconic red and buff sandstone buildings.
Key Responsibilities
- Lime mortar repairs — Mix and apply appropriate lime mortars (Stone repair, facade 400 etc)
- Stone prep work — Be competent in using hand tools to prep stonework.
- Site safety — Operate safely at height, manage dust and lime exposure.
Essential Skills & Competencies
- Traditional stone repair skills — Proven experience with sandstone, lime mortars, and hand tools.
- Trowel Skills – Be able to repair moulds, string courses and profiles.
- Scaffolding awareness — Competent working at height and understanding scaffold access requirements.
Pay: £15.00-£17.00 per hour
