Here at The Edinburgh Woollen Mill we have a fantastic opportunity for you to join our vibrant head office team as a Recruitment Advisor within our HR Department.
The role
You will be getting involved in everything from start to end recruitment and employee inductions, to providing guidance on HR polices.
As Recruitment Advisor your key duties will include:
- Pro-actively search for potential candidates using social media, job websites, job centres and agencies, posting adverts where applicable.
- Be the first point of contact for applicants for roles that have been advertised.
- Send, receive and record applications and ensure that they are complete and comply with recruitment requirements.
- Deliver an effective service in relation to pre-interview screening, testing and any assessments as required including providing an initial screening for all candidates ensuring that the identified essential criteria are met in accordance with legislative requirements, and assessing suitability for the roles.
- Undertake any pre-employment checks, ie credit checks etc.
- Arrange face to face interviews with candidates and the Head of Departments.
- Liaise with Head of Department and candidates, manage offers and rejections and provide feedback
- Gather all required paperwork for successful candidate ahead of making an offer of employment.
- Maintain up to date records and undertake the administration necessary to enable a smooth recruitment service from vacancy to new starter.
- Any other ad hoc duties as required to support the HR Department
Ideally you will have the following skills:
- Recruitment experience in a similar role
- Experience in a fast-paced environment
- Strong administrator with excellent organisational skills.
- Confident communicator

The company headquarters are in Carlisle, Cumbria. Carlisle has a principal station on the West Coast main line from London Euston and sits on the M6 motorway. High Street stores
The Edinburgh Woollen Mill has mainstream high street stores selling ladies and menswear for the 45 plus customer. Outlets are located in a wide variety of market and provincial towns across the UK and Ireland
Tourist Shops and Visitor Centres
We have specialty tourist stores, where gift items and other products reflect the stores location. The outlets, which trade under an individual, often local, fascia, are in key tourist locations throughout the UK. Many stores are on busy tourist routes and benefit from coach visits where food service and exhibitions are all part of the attraction.
Destination Shopping
There are Destination Sites which contain all of the Company's concepts and other brands to increase their attractiveness as a retail destination. The sites trade under local, individual fascias such as Antartex Village, and Kernow Mill, Mackinnon Mills.
