Junior Packaging Machinery Engineer
Location: Thame, Oxfordshire, with travel throughout the UK

The Role
We are looking for a practical and enthusiastic Junior Packaging Machinery Engineer to join our expanding engineering team in Thame.
This is a hands-on engineering position working with a wide range of packaging machinery, automation equipment and bespoke industrial machinery.
The role would suit someone who already has experience working within an industrial engineering environment and now wants to develop their skills further in machine building, installation, maintenance and commissioning.
You may currently be working as a Mechanical Fitter, Machine Fitter, Panel Wireman, Electrical Fitter, Maintenance Engineer or Junior Engineer.
The position is primarily based at our Thame facility but will also involve travel throughout the UK to assist with machinery installation, commissioning, servicing and maintenance.
Key Responsibilities
Your duties will include:
- Assembly of new packaging and industrial machinery
- Mechanical fitting and machine build work
- Basic electrical wiring and connection of machine components
- Installation of sensors, switches, motors and other machine components
- Using hand tools and power tools for machinery assembly and modification
- Assisting experienced engineers with machine modifications and bespoke engineering projects
- Preparing machinery for testing and customer acceptance
- Testing machinery prior to delivery
- Assisting with fault finding and troubleshooting
- Installation of machinery at customer sites
- Assisting with machine commissioning
- Carrying out servicing and preventative maintenance
- Supporting customer operator training
- Installation and modification of machine guarding and safety systems
- Completing basic engineering documentation
As your experience develops, you will be given increasing responsibility for your own machinery installations, maintenance visits and commissioning projects.
Essential Experience
Applicants must already have practical engineering experience within an industrial environment.

This is not a completely unskilled trainee position. We are looking for someone who already understands how to work safely and competently around industrial machinery but wants the opportunity to broaden their engineering experience.
Essential Requirements
- Previous engineering experience within an industrial environment
- Competent using hand tools and power tools
- Basic electrical wiring skills
- Good practical mechanical ability
- Comfortable assembling and modifying machinery
- Able to follow engineering drawings, wiring information and instructions
- Willingness to learn new engineering skills
- Good problem-solving ability
- Able to work both independently and as part of an engineering team
- Willingness to travel throughout the UK when required
- Current full UK driving licence

About the Opportunity
This is a particularly good opportunity for someone who has gained practical industrial experience as a fitter, wireman or junior engineer but wants to progress into a broader machinery engineering role.
Rather than carrying out the same task every day, you will gain experience across the complete machine lifecycle – from assembly and wiring in our workshop through testing, modification, installation, commissioning and ongoing customer support.
As the business continues to expand, we are looking for someone who can develop with us and ultimately progress into a fully independent Packaging Machinery Engineer
Pay: £25,420.00-£34,379.05 per year
