Wage: Starting from £14.50 per hour (negotiable depending on experience) + share of tips
Job Overview
We are seeking a talented and passionate Chef to join our dynamic team at The Countryman. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating high-quality dishes, supporting and supervising kitchen staff, and ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of the kitchen.
This role offers an exciting opportunity for individuals with a strong background in food preparation and culinary arts who are looking to develop their skills and progress within a supportive environment. You’ll play a key role in maintaining food safety standards and delivering consistently excellent dining experiences to our guests.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook a variety of dishes according to established recipes and presentation standards
- Support the supervision and development of kitchen staff, including assisting with training and daily operations
- Oversee food preparation and service to ensure efficiency, quality, and consistency
- Maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene in compliance with health regulations
- Coordinate with front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service and customer satisfaction
- Manage your section effectively during busy service periods
- Monitor inventory levels, assist with ordering, and minimise waste
- Ensure all kitchen equipment is properly maintained and cleaned regularly
- Maintain a clean, organised, and positive working environment
Experience
- Previous experience working in a professional kitchen (supervisory experience beneficial but not essential)
- Strong background in food preparation and cooking techniques
- A passion for food and a keen eye for detail
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Good teamwork and communication skills
- Knowledge of food safety standards and regulations
- Experience in a hospitality or restaurant setting is highly desirable
- A recognised culinary qualification or relevant training is preferred but not essential
