Job Overview
Vertika Group is a growing property maintenance, refurbishment and construction company carrying out works across London.
Due to continued growth and an increasing workload, we are looking for an Experienced Multi-Trade Operative to join our team on a full-time, ongoing basis.
We are looking for someone who is genuinely skilled across multiple trades and can take responsibility for completing works independently to a professional standard.
This is not an entry-level or labouring position. You must have professional property maintenance, refurbishment or construction experience and be confident working without constant supervision.
For the right individual, there is an opportunity to progress into a Senior Multi-Trade / Lead Operative position, taking responsibility for larger projects and coordinating other operatives.
Duties & Responsibilities
Works will vary between maintenance jobs, repairs and larger refurbishment projects and may include:
- General property maintenance and repairs
- Carpentry and joinery
- Door and door frame repairs/replacements
- Locks, handles, hinges, closers and general ironmongery
- Basic plumbing and fault finding
- Bathroom repairs and installations
- Bath panels and shower screens
- Tiling and tile repairs
- Regrouting and silicone works
- Patch plastering and making good
- Painting and decorating
- Boxing and minor building works
- Kitchen repairs and installations
- Flooring repairs and installation
- Minor window repairs
- Snagging and remedial works
- Identifying faults and determining appropriate repairs
- Working from job specifications and scopes of work
- Working alongside and directing labourers where required
- Protecting customers’ properties before starting work
- Maintaining a clean and safe working environment
- Providing clear before, progress and completion photographs
- Reporting additional works or issues identified on site
- Communicating professionally with clients, tenants, property managers and the Vertika team
- Ensuring works are completed to a high standard and within agreed timescales
You do not need to be a specialist in every trade. However, you must be genuinely competent across several trades and capable of completing a wide variety of property maintenance and refurbishment works.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years’ professional multi-trade, property maintenance or refurbishment experience
- Proven experience across multiple trades
- Own professional tools
- Strong problem-solving and fault-finding ability
- Able to work independently without constant supervision
- High standard of workmanship and attention to detail
- Good finishing skills
- Reliable and punctual
- Professional appearance and attitude
- Comfortable working in both occupied and vacant properties
- Good spoken English and communication skills
- Smartphone capable of receiving job information and providing site photographs/videos
- Able to provide photographs/examples of previous work
- References may be requested
Full UK driving licence required.
Own vehicle strongly preferred.
Relevant trade qualifications, certifications and additional specialist skills are advantageous.
Pay
£160–£220 per day depending on experience, range of skills, workmanship and level of responsibility.
Starting rate will be agreed following assessment and/or a paid trial.
Higher rates are reserved for highly experienced operatives who can independently take responsibility for jobs, solve problems on site, coordinate other operatives where required and consistently deliver projects to a high professional standard.
