We have an immediate requirement for experienced Carpenters / Fire Door Engineers to deliver high-standard installation and remedial works across MOD and high-security government infrastructure throughout the UK.
Due to the nature of the sites, precision, compliance, and discretion are non-negotiable.
Whilst the initial contract may be close - our work is all around the country and our teams are required to work away from home Mon / Fri on a regular basis.
Technical Responsibilities & Duties
Fire Door Compliance & Installation:
Installation: Fitting FD30 & FD60 timber door sets to strict manufacturer and BS 8214 specifications.
Remedials: Executing precise remedial repairs to existing sets as identified in Fire Risk Assessments (FRA).
Sealing: Correct application of intumescent strips, cold smoke seals, and acoustic gasketing.
Ironmongery: Expert installation of fire-rated overhead closers, hinges, and panic hardware.
Tolerances: Ensuring critical gap dimensions (3mm–4mm) and threshold clearances are maintained for certification.
Reporting: Providing digital evidence of compliance and "right first time" installation for audit trails.
General Carpentry & Maintenance:
Structural Joinery: Repairing or replacing damaged door frames and sub-structures to ensure fire integrity.
Second-Fix: High-standard fitting of architraves, skirtings, and finishings within sensitive environments.
Hardware Adjustment: Sourcing and fitting specialist fire-rated locks, latches, and security furniture.
Site Management: Working safely within secure live environments, adhering to strict Health & Safety and site-specific protocols.
Key Requirements
Vetting: Must satisfy Enhanced DBS and SC Clearance (requires 5+ years UK residency).
Travel: Willingness to travel and work away from home.
Qualifications: NVQ Level 2/3 in Carpentry & Joinery. Knowledge of FIRAS or BM TRADA standards is highly beneficial.
Status: We welcome applications from both PAYE individuals and Sub-contractors.
Pay: £21.00-£23.00 per hour
