Relief Pharmacist — Job Description
We're a forward-thinking, award-winning pharmacy business looking for a Relief Pharmacist to join us as we expand to a second branch in central Edinburgh, just a short distance from our original site. Alongside our dispensing work, we run a busy clinical services operation — vaccinations, travel health, phlebotomy, cryotherapy and ear wax removal, weight loss — and delivering these services will be a core part of your role. You'll work closely with the two owners - both practising pharmacists - covering days across both branches, helping us keep standards high and patients well looked after. It's a great fit for someone who wants steady hours, real clinical variety, and a genuinely hands-on role.
Responsibilities
- Deliver clinical services including vaccinations (travel and private), phlebotomy, cryotherapy and ear wax removal — full training provided where needed
- Run patient consultations for travel health and other clinical services, with appropriate assessment, consent and record-keeping
- Facilitate dispensing of prescriptions accurately and efficiently, in line with all legal and safety requirements
- Give clear, practical advice to patients and staff on medicines, side effects, and interactions
- Keep medicines stored, handled, and documented correctly
- Help manage stock levels, including ordering and rotation
- Get involved in medication reviews and patient counselling
- Keep accurate records of dispensing, clinical services and any interventions made
- Work closely with the owners and wider team to keep service running smoothly across both sites
Experience
- Registered pharmacist with GPhC, with strong community pharmacy experience
- Genuine interest in delivering clinical services face-to-face — experience in vaccination, phlebotomy, cryotherapy or ear wax removal is a bonus, but we are willing to train the right person
- Confident managing medication regimens and giving sound clinical advice to patients
- Confident providing outstanding patient and customer service
- Comfortable using pharmacy dispensing software
- Good organisational skills and able to keep on top of things during busy periods
- Able to work flexibly between two nearby sites, with reliable availability on agreed days
This is a good opportunity for someone wanting steady work, hands-on clinical practice beyond the dispensary, a close working relationship with the business owners, and the chance to make a real difference to patients in the local community.
