About the Role:
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated HR Placement Student to join our Human Resources team for a 12-month university placement.
This is an exciting opportunity to gain real-world HR experience while completing your placement year. Working alongside experienced HR professionals, you'll become part of a busy, supportive team where no two days are the same.
From recruitment and onboarding to employee relations, learning and development, HR systems and people projects, you'll gain hands-on experience across the full employee lifecycle while developing the practical skills and confidence needed to kick-start your HR career.
You'll be trusted with real responsibilities from day one, supporting managers and employees across the business, contributing to live HR projects and helping to deliver an excellent employee experience. The role provides a strong administrative foundation while giving you exposure to all aspects of a busy, generalist HR function.

Key Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will provide administrative and operational support across a broad range of HR activities, including:
HR Administration
-
Prepare employment contracts, letters and HR documentation.

Maintain accurate employee records and HR systems.
-
Process employee lifecycle changes, including starters, transfers and leavers.

Support probationary review processes and other HR administration.
-
Ensure personnel records are maintained accurately, securely and confidentially.

Respond to routine HR queries from employees and managers.
Recruitment & Onboarding

Support recruitment campaigns, including advertising vacancies and coordinating interviews.

Liaise with candidates throughout the recruitment process.

Prepare offer documentation and onboarding packs.
-
Complete pre-employment checks, including right to work documentation.

Deliver new starter inductions and support colleagues through their onboarding journey.
Employee Relations
-
Provide administrative support for absence management, disciplinary, grievance and performance management processes.

Prepare meeting documentation, invitations and outcome letters.

Take notes during meetings where appropriate.

Maintain confidential employee relations records.
Learning & Development
-
Coordinate training bookings and attendance records.

Update training matrices and learning records.
-
Support learning and development initiatives across the business.
HR Systems
-
Support the maintenance and accuracy of HR systems.

Produce HR reports and people data as required.
HR Projects
-
Get involved in a variety of live HR projects, helping to improve employee experience, HR processes and people initiatives across the business.

Assist with policy reviews, employee engagement activities and internal communications.

Gather and analyse HR data to support business decisions.

Support continuous improvement across the HR function.
General

Provide excellent customer service to employees and managers.
Handle confidential information with professionalism and integrity.

What You'll Need:
Essential
-
Currently undertaking a degree in Human Resource Management, Business Management or a related discipline that includes a placement year.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Good organisational and time management skills.

High level of accuracy and attention to detail.

Competent in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel and Outlook.

Ability to handle confidential information appropriately.
Desirable
-
Previous administrative or customer service experience.

Previous work experience within an office environment.

An understanding of employment law or HR practices gained through university studies.

Experience using HR or business systems.
