We are looking for an organised, practical and confident General Manager / Operations Manager to take responsibility for the day-to-day running of our established automotive workshop business.
This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys keeping a business organised, supporting a small team and making sure things get done properly and on time. You will work closely with the company owner and become the main point of contact for everyday operational and employee matters.
What you'll be doing
- Managing the daily running of the business and coordinating a team of approximately 5–9 employees
- Monitoring workload, appointments, deadlines and staff availability
- Managing holidays, sickness, attendance and employee records
- Supporting recruitment, onboarding and probation reviews
- Preparing working-hours and payroll information
- Maintaining company records, documentation and compliance requirements
- Overseeing Health & Safety procedures, training and risk assessments
- Helping improve internal processes, organisation and overall business performance
- Keeping the owner informed of any important issues, risks or delays
What we're looking for
You should have previous experience in operations management, general management, branch management, office management or a similar position.
You will need to be organised, dependable and comfortable managing people and making day-to-day decisions independently.
You should also have:
- Strong organisational and time-management skills
- Experience supervising or managing employees
- Confidence dealing with attendance and performance matters
- Good administrative and record-keeping skills
- Practical understanding of workplace Health & Safety
- Good Microsoft Office and spreadsheet skills
- Strong written and verbal communication
- Full right to work in the UK
Experience within automotive, engineering, manufacturing, workshop or service businesses would be an advantage.
Polish language skills would also be beneficial, but are not essential.
You do not need technical knowledge of automatic gearboxes. What matters is being willing to learn how the workshop operates and understand our internal processes.
