County Tyres Exeter are seeking a skilled MOT Tester/Mechanic to join our automotive service team. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting MOT tests, diagnosing vehicle issues, and performing repairs to ensure vehicles meet safety and environmental standards. Responsibilities
- Conduct MOT tests in accordance with legal and safety standards, ensuring vehicles pass or fail based on compliance.
- Diagnose mechanical issues using specialised tools and equipment, providing accurate assessments of vehicle condition.
- Perform repairs and maintenance tasks, including brake repairs, tyre replacements, exhaust system work, and general servicing.
- Utilise hand tools and power tools effectively to complete tasks efficiently and safely.
- Assist with vehicle inspections, identifying potential safety concerns or defects requiring attention.
- Maintain detailed records of work performed and test results in accordance with company procedures.
- Ensure workshop cleanliness and organisation to promote a safe working environment.
- Assist colleagues as needed to meet workshop deadlines and maintain high standards of customer service.
Experience
- Proven experience as a mechanic or in a similar automotive repair role, with specific experience conducting MOT tests preferred.
- Strong mechanical knowledge of various vehicle systems and components.
- Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment essential for vehicle repair and testing.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely when handling vehicle parts or equipment.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
