Role Overview
Working as part of the Yard Operations team, the Yard Loader is responsible for the safe and accurate loading of packs, pallets and associated products onto outbound vehicles. The role ensures customer orders are dispatched correctly, safely and on time while maintaining high standards of housekeeping, quality and health & safety throughout the yard operation.
The role works a rotating shift pattern of earlies 6am-2pm, and lates 2pm-10pm Monday to Friday.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely load packs, pallets and associated products onto HGV trailers using FLT equipment.
- Ensure all loads are loaded in accordance with loading plans, transport requirements and safe systems of work.
- Verify products against picking lists and shipping documentation prior to loading.
- Ensure load security standards are met before vehicle departure.
- Complete daily loading, picking and dispatch documentation accurately.
- Operate FLT equipment in accordance with company procedures and training, including carrying out pre-use inspections.
- Maintain stock accuracy and assist with yard organisation and storage of finished goods.
- Work in accordance with all Safe Systems of Work (SSoW) and ensure compliance with site safety requirements.
- Report hazards, near misses and incidents promptly whilst maintaining safe vehicle and pedestrian segregation procedures.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the yard operation.
Skills and Experience
- FLT Licence
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Organised with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Able to manage difficult situations and work with others to devise solutions.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to obtain, analyse and present information.
