Job Overview
We are seeking a professional HGV/LGV Driver to join our logistics team. The successful candidate will be responsible for safely operating heavy goods vehicles, including flatbed lorries with Lorry Loaders to deliver goods efficiently across the country. This role requires a commitment to safety, punctuality, and excellent driving standards to ensure the timely and secure transportation of goods. Prior experience in commercial driving and delivery is highly desirable.
Duties
- Safely operate HGV/LGV vehicles, including flatbed lorries, in compliance with all road safety regulations and company policies.
- Plan and follow efficient delivery routes to ensure timely arrivals at destinations.
- Secure loads properly on flatbeds or other vehicle types before transit.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, reporting any faults or issues promptly.
- Maintain accurate documentation related to deliveries, mileage, and vehicle condition.
- Assist with loading and unloading goods when necessary, ensuring items are handled with care.
- Adhere to all legal requirements regarding driving hours, rest periods, and vehicle maintenance.
Skills
- Proven experience as a commercial driver, particularly with flatbed vehicles or similar heavy goods vehicles.
- Strong driving skills with a clean driving record.
- Knowledge of road safety regulations and best practices for heavy vehicle operation.
- Excellent organisational skills to plan routes effectively and manage delivery schedules.
- Ability to handle physical tasks involved in securing loads on flatbeds and assisting with cargo handling when required.
- Good communication skills for liaising with clients and team members.
