Job Overview
We are seeking a reliable Recycling Centre Labourer to join our team. This role involves supporting the daily operations of the recycling facility and assisting the machine operator by handling materials, maintaining safety standards, and assisting with various tasks to ensure smooth processing.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong work ethic, be comfortable with heavy lifting, and have some mechanical knowledge to support equipment operation and maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Collect, sort, and process recyclable materials in accordance with company procedures
- Sorting mixed waste from skips into individual commodities ie, wood, cardboard, plastics and metals.
- Operate basic machinery and equipment, with training provided where necessary
- Assist with the loading and unloading of recyclable items using appropriate manual handling techniques
- Maintain a clean and organised work environment to promote safety and efficiency
- Conduct routine inspections of equipment and report any faults or issues promptly
- Support team members in managing waste streams and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations
- Adhere to health and safety protocols at all times, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
Experience
- Previous experience in a labouring or industrial environment is advantageous but not essential; training will be provided
- Mechanical knowledge is desirable to assist with basic equipment troubleshooting and maintenance tasks
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- A proactive attitude towards safety procedures and environmental standards
