Forklift & Warehouse Machinery Operative
- 34 hours per week - 4 on 2 off shift pattern (07:00am – 14:45pm & 14:15pm – 22:00pm)

As a Forklift & Warehouse Machinery Operative your main duties will be to operate warehouse manual handling equipment to include high reach and counterbalance forklift trucks, trailer tow tractors, ride on and push pallet trucks and pallet inverters to move, load, wrap and safely store palletised products on site. All activities conducted as part of this service will be carried out in line with the GSK procedures and policies that apply. The main activities are covered in GSK SOP MSP1313: Trailer Service Production Unitsand must be always adhered to.
Additionally, you will ensure full compliance to GXP operating standards of cleaning, PPE, paperwork and conduct where applicable. To comply with GSK and Mitie PSOPs for standard working practice and ensure good standards of housekeeping in all areas used by the Distribution and Logistics team. You will also report all damage and maintenance required on equipment to GSK immediately to avoid service disruption. To report any non-conformances to Mitie line management.
In addition to this, you will support shift cover for team holiday / sickness, participate in scheduled and ad hoc team box talks, escalate any issues to the shift lead and report all accidents, incidents and hazards through the Mitie and GSK channels and carry out any additional reasonable requests. You will ensure all storage areas for chemicals, fuel and cleaning equipment within Mitie's control are kept to the required standard of cleanliness and organisation and equipment is in safe working order. You will be fully compliant with COSHH principles and have a full working knowledge of all equipment used by Mitie, materials and agents.
To be successful in this role, you must have a Forklift truck operator certification and previous experience in a similar role, a flexible approach to working environment with a willingness to support working overtime as required and ability to communicate effectively and foster good working relationships both internally and with client. You will have the ability to perform well under pressure and independent of supervision.
