Our Crisis and Resilience project funding will provide both employability and financial resilience support to residents across North Northants as part of the Crisis & Resilience Fund administered by NNC. Clients may be referred into either service depending on their individual circumstances. Services include one-to-one employability support, financial capability guidance, budgeting, income maximisation, initial debt assessments and referral to specialist advice where appropriate.
The role focuses on supporting clients to improve their employability or financial resilience through tailored interventions, whilst identifying wider advice needs and making appropriate referrals to Citizens Advice specialists and external partner organisations.
This post will require frequent travel to outreach locations across the local authority area of North Northants.
Advisers delivering on this project will be required to:
- Provide tailored one-to-one employability support to residents referred for employment options support.
- Provide tailored financial resilience support to residents referred for financial capability advice.
- Identify barriers affecting clients' employment or financial wellbeing.
- Support clients to increase confidence, independence and resilience.
- Refer clients to specialist Citizens Advice services and external partners where appropriate.
- Work collaboratively with other projects and core services within Citizens Advice North Northants and external community partners.
Person Specification
Essential criteria:
- Experience in a training, teaching or mentoring role
- Experience of working in a fast-paced, client-facing environment either in a paid or voluntary capacity
- Experience of supporting people experiencing barriers to employment, financial hardship or social exclusion
- Experience of managing a caseload and maintaining accurate client records
- Demonstrable understanding of the barriers faced by unemployed, under-employed or financially vulnerable individuals
- Knowledge of employability support, financial capability, budgeting and income maximisation principles
- Good understanding of equality, diversity, inclusion and safeguarding in service delivery
- Ability to deliver structured one-to-one support sessions
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with clients and partner organisations
- Good IT skills, including use of central record systems, Gmail, Google drive, and the ability to learn new online systems as needed
- Ability to assess client needs, agree action plans and make appropriate referrals to internal or external services
- Ability to manage a varied workload, work independently and as part of a team, and maintain confidentiality in line with organisational policies
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle, or willingness and ability to travel independently between outreach locations across North Northamptonshire using public transport where appropriate
Desirable Criteria:
- Experience of delivering employability, advice services, financial capability or money guidance services to the public
- Awareness of benefits, debt, or financial issues that may affect financial wellbeing and employability
- Understanding of empowerment, confidence-building, resilience and person-centred support
