Are you passionate about enriching the lives of people living with dementia? Do you have experience leading teams within care and enjoy creating engaging, person-centred activities?We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Dementia Activities Lead to lead our dementia day club services.
This rewarding role combines activity planning, care delivery and team leadership, providing meaningful experiences that enhance wellbeing, independence and quality of life for our members.
You will take ownership of planning and delivering engaging activity programmes, overseeing the day-to-day running of our day clubs, and leading a team of Support Workers to ensure the highest standards of care and engagement are maintained. This is an ideal opportunity for a Senior Carer, Team Leader, Activities Coordinator or Care Supervisor looking to take the next step in their career.
Key Responsibilities
Activities & Wellbeing
- Plan, organise and deliver engaging, person-centred activities that reflect the interests, abilities and preferences of members.
- Create meaningful experiences that promote social interaction, wellbeing, cognitive stimulation and independence.
- Organise outings, day trips and community-based activities.
- Monitor participation and adapt programmes to ensure all members remain engaged, included and supported.
- Foster a positive, welcoming and vibrant environment where members can thrive.
Team Leadership
- Lead day club sessions and ensure the smooth and effective running of activities.
- Supervise, support and motivate Support Workers and volunteers.
- Promote person-centred care and best practice across the service.
- Support training, development and ongoing guidance for team members.
- Act as a role model, encouraging a positive and professional team culture.
Care & Support
- Build positive relationships with members and their families.
- Support individuals living with dementia with dignity, compassion and respect.
- Ensure members are happy, comfortable, safe and receiving high-quality support.
- Assist with personal care where required.
- Administer medication in line with company policy and training.
- Maintain accurate records, care notes and activity documentation.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will be:
- An experienced Team Leader, Senior Carer, Activities Coordinator or Supervisor.
- Passionate about delivering outstanding dementia care and meaningful activities.
- Highly organised, proactive and able to work independently.
- A confident communicator with strong leadership skills.
- Compassionate, patient and empathetic, with a naturally positive and engaging personality.
- Comfortable using IT systems for record keeping and communication.
Essential Requirements
- Experience within dementia care, adult social care, healthcare or a similar setting.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Access to your own vehicle.
- Excellent planning and organisational skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Desirable
- Dementia care training or qualifications.
- Experience delivering activity programmes within a care environment.
