BACKGROUND:
John Forrester Limited are an established firm of Chartered Surveyors, specialising in the management of rural estates and residential property. We need to appoint a new bookkeeper, preferably with experience in the property sector. The successful candidate will operate and maintain the accounting system and records for the firm and its management clients. The candidate will maintain and update the firms property management software system, Landmark (https://www.landmarksystems.co.uk ).
KEY RESPONSIBIILITIES:
· Maintaining / Updating Landmark Key Prime Property Management System
· Dealing with preparation of rent demands, invoicing, receipts, payments and reconciliations
· Managing debtors
· Assist in producing financial budgets and reports
· Maintaining and updating compliance information for individual properties on Key Prime
· Liaising with accountants in providing payroll, including PAYE, NI, pensions and expenses information
· Liaising with accountants in relation to preparing and submitting VAT returns
· Banking and online bank account administration
· Providing information to accountants for production of annual accounts and assisting with enquiries where necessary
· Handling sensitive information, maintaining client confidentiality and complying with all Data Protection legislation
· Ensuring compliance with RICS accounting regulations
· Answering telephones when secretarial staff are not available

PERSON SPECIFICATION:
· Good level of general education
· Proven experience of bookkeeping or accounts management preferably in the property sector
· Ability to use computerised accounting systems
· Knowledge of payroll, PAYE, NI and pensions
· Ability to communicate financial information in a timely and proactive manner
· Ability in developing financial procedures and systems
· Proven experience of using Microsoft packages including Excel, Word and Outlook
· Good administrative, organisation and communication skills
· Customer service experience
· Ability to interpret and follow policies and procedures
· Ability to work on own initiative, prioritise workload both independently and within a small team
· It would be advantageous if the applicant had knowledge of rural estate management and / or Landmark although this is not essential.
Pay: £16.50 per hour
Expected hours: 24.0 per week
