Geospatial Surveyor
Castle Surveys | Competitive salary, dependent on experience
We're on the lookout for an experienced Geospatial Surveyor to join our growing team, someone who genuinely enjoys the craft of surveying and takes real pride in the quality of what they deliver.
This is a hands-on role centred on topographic land surveys and 3D laser scanning of buildings, so you'll spend your time out in the field capturing detailed, accurate data across a huge variety of sites, then back at the desk turning that raw data into polished deliverables our clients can rely on. If you love the mix of being on site one day and refining a point cloud the next, you'll feel right at home here.
What you'll be doing
Day to day, you'll be carrying out topographic surveys and high-detail 3D laser scanning of buildings and structures. Once the data's captured, the real craft begins. You'll be registering and processing your scan data in Leica Cyclone REGISTER 360, cleaning it up, checking it against control, and making sure everything ties together cleanly before it goes anywhere near a client. From there you'll produce the finished drawings and deliverables in LSS, ready to hand over to the standard our clients have come to expect.
Because you'll own your work from start to finish, from the initial site visit right through to the final deliverable, you'll have real accountability and the satisfaction that comes with it. There's nobody picking up the loose ends behind you; the quality is yours, and we'll trust you with it.
One of the best parts of the job? The sheer range of projects. One week you might be scanning a residential property, the next you could be working across a live airport, with commercial buildings, heritage sites and infrastructure schemes in between. It keeps things interesting, and it'll stretch your skills in ways a narrower role never could.
The person we're looking for
We're seeking someone self-motivated who strives for quality and excellence in everything they produce. You'll have a strong passion for self-development, always sharpening your skills, keeping an eye on new techniques and technology, and staying one step ahead rather than standing still. Proactiveness matters to us; we want someone who spots what needs doing and gets on with it, making sure their work is delivered on time and to our high standard, every time.
You'll thrive here if you're the sort of person who finds a badly registered scan genuinely annoying and can't rest until it's right. That care is what sets our work apart.
What you'll need
A minimum of four years' experience delivering your own survey work from start to finish is essential, this isn't a role for someone still finding their feet. You'll be confident working independently across the full workflow, and comfortable with a variety of survey equipment and software rather than just one setup. Hands-on experience with Leica Cyclone REGISTER 360 and LSS will put you in a strong position, and a solid grounding in topographic surveying and 3D laser scanning is a must.
CSCS Card
A full UK driving licence will be needed, as you'll be travelling to sites across the country.
Why join us
You'll be joining a team that cares about doing things properly, working on genuinely varied and interesting projects, with the freedom to take ownership of your work and the support to keep growing. If that sounds like your kind of place, we'd love to hear from you.
