Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Sous Chef to join our dynamic culinary team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in assisting the Head Chef with daily kitchen operations and running the kitchen independently on quieter days, ensuring the delivery of high-quality food and exceptional service. Thursday 11am-9pm
Friday 3pm-9pm
Some weekend/holiday cover required
Responsibilities
- Assist the Head Chef in overseeing daily kitchen operations and ensuring smooth workflow
- Supervise and manage kitchen staff, including training and mentoring team members
- Prepare and cook a variety of dishes in accordance with established recipes and standards
- Monitor food quality, presentation, and consistency to meet customer expectations
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and hygiene standards at all times
- Coordinate food production schedules to optimise efficiency and minimise waste
- Support inventory management by checking stock levels and placing orders when necessary
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen environment
- Assist in developing new menu items and culinary innovations
- Serve as a role model for professionalism, teamwork, and hospitality within the kitchen
Qualifications
- Proven experience in a similar role within a busy restaurant or hospitality environment
- Strong background in food preparation, cooking, and food safety practices
- Supervising experience with demonstrated leadership capabilities
- Excellent team management skills with the ability to motivate staff
- Knowledge of food production processes and culinary techniques
- Familiarity with health & safety regulations relevant to commercial kitchens
- Exceptional organisational skills with attention to detail
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Previous experience in restaurant service or serving is advantageous but not essential
