Kitchen Porter / Assistant (Zero-Hours Contract)
Overview
We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Kitchen Porter/Assistant to join our team on a zero-hours contract. This role offers flexible working hours based on business needs, including evenings, weekends and busy service periods. Shifts will be offered as required, and there is no guarantee of a minimum number of hours.
The Kitchen Porter/Assistant plays a vital role in maintaining the smooth and efficient operation of the kitchen by supporting chefs and kitchen staff. The role focuses on cleanliness, hygiene, organisation, and assisting with basic food preparation when required.
Key Responsibilities
- Wash, dry, and properly store pots, pans, utensils, and kitchen equipment
- Maintain cleanliness of kitchen surfaces, floors, storage areas, and back-of-house spaces
- Operate dishwashing machinery and handle cleaning chemicals safely and correctly
- Collect and dispose of waste and recycling in line with company procedures
- Receive, check, and correctly store food deliveries
- Assist chefs with basic food preparation tasks (e.g., peeling, chopping, portioning ingredients)
- Ensure full compliance with health & safety and food hygiene regulations
- Support kitchen staff during busy service periods to ensure smooth and efficient operations

- Basic understanding of food hygiene and safety (training will be provided)
