Sunderland College has been delivering highly successful courses for more than 20 years and is one of the largest providers of post-16 education in the North East with approximately 14,300 students.
The College has two campuses across the city of Sunderland, offering a wide range of academic and vocational provision for school leavers and adults. Our students consistently achieve outstanding results and Sunderland College has been ranked in the top 25% in the country for student achievement rates. Taking Teaching Further & Additional Incentives
If you’re making the move into further education teaching, you may be eligible for the Taking Teaching Further (TTF) programme a funded route to help industry professionals retrain as FE teachers.
In addition, for roles in high-need subjects or regions you may also benefit from the government’s targeted retention incentive (formerly “levelling-up premium”) payments, worth up to £6,000 for eligible teachers in their first five years and teaching certain shortage subjects.
Please note eligibility for both TTF and the Targeted Retention Incentive varies by role, subject area and provider, they do not apply to every vacancy.

About the Candidate
At Sunderland College, we are looking for a Hospitality and Catering Programme Leader who embodies what it means to be a changemaker: someone with the courage to inspire ambition and challenge expectations, the authenticity to build meaningful and trusting relationships, the respect to value every learner and celebrate their individuality, and the drive for excellence to ensure every student can thrive. They will be passionate about their subject, committed to raising aspirations and determined to equip young people with the skills, confidence and resilience to succeed both in the classroom and in the wider world.
About the Role
This role is a Lecturer and Programme Lead for Hospitality and Catering with teaching, learning and assessment responsibility across levels 1 to 3. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in an Ofsted Outstanding College, a World Skills Centre for Excellence and in industry standard facilities whilst teaching technical vocational catering skills to a range of students. The college has its own commercial restaurant 'City Bistro' serving members of the public, caters for external events and participates widely in regional and national competitions. The successful candidate will benefit from a range of pedagogical and industry training.
Role Responsibilities

To provide an excellent experience to students through exemplary learning, teaching and standards of assessment.

Preparation of effective formative and summative assessments including feedback to meet awarding organisation requirements and student needs.

Oversee the needs and positive progress of all students, including those with an EHCP or ALS need enrolled on a course/programme for which you are responsible.

Work effectively within teams responsible for devising, reviewing and maintaining effective management of study programmes; and contribute towards the sharing of practice
Qualifications

Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training or equivalent, or commitment to complete within first two years.

Minimum Level 3 in Catering or relevant qualification

Level 2 in English and Maths

Minimum of 2 years industry experience.
