£28598 - £32597 per annum

The South Worcestershire Building Control Partnership is a forward thinking, customer focussed team, providing a Building Control Service dealing with all aspects of Building Regulations, including the examination of full plans/building notice applications, site inspections, dangerous structures, unauthorised and regularisation applications and enforcement duties as and when required. We deal with a wide range of interesting development proposals across south Worcestershire for Malvern Hills District Council, Wychavon District Council and Worcester City Council.
We are currently expanding the team with a new opportunity to join Building Control as a Trainee Building Control Surveyor.
The successful candidate for this role will undertake formal training and mentoring in the full range of Building Control duties including plan vetting, site inspections and dangerous structures. You will have a positive attitude towards the delivery of quality services and contribute to the development of services.

About you
The successful candidate will:

Have a good understanding of the nature and scope of Building Control work including its contribution to improving Health and Safety of residents.

Have the ability to undertake site visits which may involve activities such as climbing ladders/operating in confined spaces.

Be totally committed to customer care.

Have the ability to positively respond to change and seek new and improved ways of working.

Be able to receive and record information accurately, including writing reports for a variety of stakeholders.

Have an awareness of the Building Act 1984, The Building Regulations 2010.

Have an awareness of core areas of building control and how the industry positively impacts the residents.

Be a team player whilst also being able to work on own initiative.

Be computer literate and have excellent communication skills.

Hold a driving licence and use of a car for business or fully mobile with access to transport.
