We are looking for a SEND Pastoral Teaching Assistant to join our dynamic team at Kirk Hallam Community Academy. You will be joining us at an exciting and pivotal time in our journey of improvement.
The Inclusion team supports students’ learning and behaviour on an individual or small group basis within our Learning Support facility or in the classroom.
The ideal applicant has experience of providing support to young people with additional needs, working with them effectively to facilitate their physical, emotional and educational development. The SEND Pastoral Teaching Assistant will provide targeted in-the-moment support for students with SEND, particularly those with SEMH and behavioural needs, using a nurturing and relational approach to promote engagement, resilience, and positive outcomes. They will ensure that students are able to access learning through effective de-escalation strategies, sensory regulation activities, and personalised interventions that enable successful participation in the mainstream classroom. They will also build positive relationships with students, staff, and families, maintaining clear communication with parents and carers to ensure a collaborative approach to student wellbeing, behaviour, and achievement.
In return, the right person for our team will benefit from full support and induction, CPD opportunities, a community facing ethos among staff and students and a staff wellbeing focus along with Nova Perks, a scheme which provides staff with access to a number of exciting perks including a cash back health plan, instant discounts, technology and cycle schemes and more.
Our motto ‘Work Hard, Be Kind’ underpins everything that we do and reflects our unwavering commitment to excellence. Great education transforms lives, and we have absolute conviction that great education is about striking a balance between an unashamedly ambitious curriculum and character development.
Applications should be made by Monday 21st September at 8am.
