Solent Bathrooms rips out and refits bathrooms across Southampton, Portsmouth, Winchester and the surrounding areas, in people's own homes, on NHS sites and on other commercial projects.
One week you might be removing a tired old bathroom that's become a struggle to use and refitting with a wet room, level access showers and grab rails, a project that will really change how someone gets around their own space. The next you're on an NHS site fitting something built to handle heavy daily use.
We're growing and every person that works with us brings something to the team. You’ll be working with our Owner from day one so will see the work you do and support you.
This is a big hire for us, you'll be working directly with them, and the plan is for you to pick up more responsibility as we grow, not stay stagnant.
You'll be working on:
- Rip-out and install of bathrooms (including accessible and adapted rooms, wet rooms)
- First fix plumbing and heating
- An element of carpentry including boxing in, minor stud work, fitting grab rails
- A mix of domestic homes, NHS sites and other commercial projects
- Covering Southampton, Winchester, Portsmouth, Chichester & Reading
Tiling, plastering and electrical aren't part of this role, so you can just focus on what you're actually good at. In someone's home, a good manner with customers matters just as much as the install itself.
Who you are:
- You get stuck in. You don't wait to be told twice, you see what needs doing and get on with it, whether that's finishing the the highest standard or helping a teammate out when they're stretched.
- You're self-motivated. Nobody's stood over you keeping you on track, you manage your own day and deliver great work without needing to be chased.
- You can talk confidently and clearly with customers in their homes. Often that's someone who's a bit anxious about having work done, so you'll need to explain what's happening, put them at ease, and answer their questions professionally.
- The finish matters to you. The small details are what people remember, a neat, careful job is what keeps our name good in this trade.
- You're someone we can trust completely. You'll often be working alone in people's homes, sometimes with vulnerable customers, so that trust matters more than almost anything else.
- You want to grow. We're straight-talking and ambitious, and if you want to develop, whether that's your qualifications or taking on more responsibility
Qualifications & experience:
- Full, clean driving licence (essential)
- Own van is a bonus but not essential
- Working knowledge of plumbing, first fix pipework and tap/waste connections
- Some carpentry experience, boxing in, minor stud work, securely fitting grab rails
- NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) in plumbing is desirable though relevant hands-on experience is equally welcome
- CSCS card useful for site work
- A DBS check is required before you start (Given you'll be working in people's homes, sometimes with vulnerable customers, this is a firm requirement of the role, not something optional)
Why join Solent Bathrooms?
This is a business built on one person's standards, and it shows. The owner's still on the tools, fully involved in every project not stuck behind a desk telling other people how it should be done, so when they ask for a good job, it's because they know exactly what that takes.
Straight-talking, no nonsense, and growing because the work's good, not because of clever marketing. It's give and take here too, hard graft gets matched with fairness, not just expected.
