As an established business employing approximately 75 people, we specialise in surface mount assembly (SMT), through-hole (PTH), sub-assembly, box and panel builds and the testing of electronic products. To support our continued growth and drive operational excellence, we are now seeking a Production Manager to help lead and enhance our manufacturing performance.
The Role
As the Production Manager, you will play a key role in our manufacturing operations, ensuring products are built to the highest standards and delivered on time. You will be responsible for the planning and coordinating of production schedules, optimising resources, and ensuring operational efficiency across the business. You will thrive in a hands-on, fast-paced SME environment where teamwork is essential for success. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced production manager or a candidate who is looking for their first opportunity to advance into a managerial role.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily manufacturing operations, ensuring output, quality, and safety targets are met
- Responsible for the production planning department, ensuring that requirements are planned to meet delivery dates and stocking policies
- Lead, motivate, and support a team of around 25 staff including production planning, supervisors, operators and test
- Monitor capacity, materials, and labour availability, adjusting plans where necessary
- Work closely with the engineering, procurement, and sales teams to ensure effective communication and workflow
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and reduce waste
- Maintain accurate production data, KPIs, and reporting as required
Skills and Experience
- Previous experience in production supervision/management, production planning and scheduling within electronics, or a related manufacturing sector
- Strong communication and organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment
- Competent user of ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities
- Experience working within an SME is highly beneficial
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles or Continuous Improvement is an advantage
