English Teacher (Specialist SEN Setting) – South London
We are seeking a passionate and experienced English Teacher to join a specialist educational setting supporting young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Education, Health & Care Plans (EHCPs). This is an exciting opportunity to teach in small classes, often with fewer than eight students, within a therapeutic and student-centred environment.
The successful candidate will deliver GCSE English (Foundation and Higher), with opportunities to teach A-Level English and Functional Skills English where required. You will be responsible for planning engaging lessons, tracking student progress, supporting individual learning needs, and fostering positive outcomes for every learner.
Alongside teaching, you'll play a key role in wider school development by leading initiatives in assessment, literacy, enrichment, and curriculum development, helping to create an inclusive learning environment where students can thrive.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach GCSE, A-Level, and Functional Skills English to small groups and on a 1:1 basis.
- Plan, deliver, and assess high-quality lessons tailored to individual learning needs.
- Support students with SEN using therapeutic and attachment-aware approaches.
- Monitor student progress and provide regular feedback and attainment reports.
- Lead on assessment, literacy, enrichment, and whole-school improvement initiatives.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, families, and external professionals to support student success.
Essential Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or significant teaching experience.
- Proven experience teaching GCSE English (A-Level experience desirable).
- Essential experience working with SEN students, ideally within a therapeutic or attachment-aware setting.
- Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
- A passion for inclusive education and helping young people overcome barriers to learning.

Pay: £38,000.00-£40,000.00 per year
