Location: Effingham, Surrey
Salary: £34,361 – £37,368 (actual salary, dependent on qualifications)
Plus: £3,000 welcome bonus (for candidates with SEN experience*)
Hours: 40 hours per week, full-year role
About the Role
A wonderful specialist provision in Effingham is seeking a passionate and experienced Pastoral Lead & Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) to join its senior leadership team.
This is a key role within the school, supporting both staff and students in promoting positive behaviour, safeguarding, and wellbeing across the setting.
The provision supports autistic young people aged 11–16 with associated behavioural, communication and, in some cases, multiple learning difficulties. A multidisciplinary therapy team is also based on site, working collaboratively to support both staff and pupils.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead on behaviour and safeguarding practice across the school
- Oversee the implementation of behaviour and attendance policies
- Provide rapid support and guidance to staff when additional pupil support is required
- Monitor and report on students out of class
- Maintain a visible presence across the school, including break and lunch times
- Build positive relationships with parents and carers
- Deliver safeguarding and behaviour training to staff (CPD)
- Support pupil re-engagement in learning alongside the clinical team
- Provide relevant data and reports to senior leadership and governors
- Ensure compliance with educational visits and associated procedures
- Act as the school’s Looked After Children (LAC) Designated Lead
- Cover lessons where required to reduce agency usage
- Lead and coordinate targeted interventions, including EHCP provision
