About the Woodlands Edge
The Woodlands Edge is a vibrant pub in South Ockendon, operating as part of the Greene King Pub Partners network.
We are looking for an energetic, passionate and dedicated Kitchen Manager to take responsibility for the day-to-day kitchen operation and lead our back-of-house team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced chef, senior kitchen team member or ambitious hospitality professional who is ready to progress into a Kitchen Manager position.
As part of the role, you will help deliver a consistently high-quality food experience while maintaining excellent standards of food safety, cleanliness, teamwork and customer service.
Full training and ongoing development will be provided to the right candidate.
What You Will Do
- Lead the day-to-day running of the kitchen.
- Manage food preparation, cooking and service.
- Lead, motivate and develop the kitchen team.
- Maintain excellent food quality and presentation.
- Ensure food safety, hygiene and allergen procedures are followed.
- Manage stock, ordering, deliveries and stock rotation.
- Control food waste and support effective food-cost management.
- Work closely with the front-of-house and pub management teams.
- Ensure the kitchen is fully prepared for every service.
- Monitor kitchen performance and service standards.
- Maintain kitchen equipment and report faults promptly.
- Create a positive, professional and supportive kitchen environment.
- Lead by example and maintain high standards throughout every service.
Full Training & Development

- Kitchen management.
- Food preparation and cooking standards.
- Food safety and hygiene.

- COSHH.
- Health & Safety.

- Stock control and ordering.
- Food costing and portion control.
- Waste management.
- Menu and recipe standards.
- Kitchen organisation and service planning.
- Staff training and development.
- Team leadership.
- Communication and delegation.
- Customer service.
- Company and pub operating procedures.
You will receive ongoing support as you develop your skills and confidence in the role.
Experience
Previous Kitchen Manager, Head Chef, Sous Chef or senior kitchen experience would be an advantage.
However, we are also interested in ambitious kitchen professionals who are ready to take their next career step.
If you have strong kitchen experience, a positive attitude and the ability to lead by example, we can provide the management training and support required to help you develop.
