We are looking for a dedicated receptionist to join the team at South Shropshire Leisure Centre in Ludlow (Teme Ludlow). As a Receptionist you will need to demonstrate excellent customer care, communication skills, engage with customers and work as part of a team. The position requires a proactive approach in promoting the Centre combined with a genuine belief in selling the benefits of health, well-being and leisure provision to the communities we serve.
Duties of the post include: dealing with customer enquiries, bookings, cash handling, answering the telephone and assisting with administration and finance procedures. The successful candidate must demonstrate a confident friendly manner and be willing to work anti-social hours. The ability to work on your own initiative and as part of an integrated team is essential. Some previous experience of front of house customer services is desirable as is an understanding of administration and financial systems. Keyboard skills are essential and the successful candidate will be required to be DBS checked.
The post is conducted by following a three-week rolling rota which includes early mornings, evenings and working 1 weekend every 3 weeks

Works under the general direction of the General Manager, Marketing Coordinator / Duty Managers to assist in the day to day running of South Shropshire Leisure Centre

MAJOR TASKS AND JOB ACTIVITIES

3.1
Support / Supervision
Receives support and guidance from the Marketing Coordinator / Duty Managers where necessary, on issues relating to day to day operations and on specific areas of personal responsibilities
3.2
Liaise with the Marketing Coordinator / Duty Managers on day to day operational matters and refer any difficult problems to them for advice/assistance
3.3
Work closely with fellow staff and other human resources on matters relating to the day to day delivery of services
3.4
Attend Staff training sessions and Staff meetings as required
Specific Responsibilities
3.5
When on duty take responsibility for all cash handling, card transactions and taking bookings in accordance with Trusts policies and procedures.
3.6
When on duty take full responsibility for customer related services at the Centre including: dealing with customer enquires, providing information, answering queries either over the telephone or face to face and promoting Centre services
3.7
When on duty assist the Duty Managers / Finance Manager in the day to day administration and financial operating procedures and functions
3.8
Assist the Duty Managers / Finance Manager in the management of all bookings and hire of facilities; including programming, record keeping, accounts and sundry debtors
3.9
In consultation with the Marketing Coordinator / Duty Managers take responsibility for the control/recording of stock and resale equipment
4.0
In consultation with the Marketing Coordinator / Duty Managers may take an active involvement in the planning, promotion and development of leisure based activities; taking particular responsibility for providing customer information and keeping displays/notice boards up to date
4.1
General Duties
Work as an integrated team with fellow Staff on matters relating to the day to day delivery of services
4.2
Ensure activity areas are prepared for customers and staff through working closely with the fellow Staff
4.3
At all times, whilst on duty, take responsibility for the safety and welfare of fellow staff, coaches and customers
4.4
In consultation with the Marketing Coordinator / Duty Managers assist in the support and training of Centre Staff
4.5
Ensure all physical resources, including equipment and the building are respected and maintained fit for use by staff or customers
4.6
Under the general direction of the Duty Managers ensure all areas of the building are maintained to a safe level and in accordance with Trust/Centre procedures
4.7
Ensure all equipment is operated to approved procedures/standards, reporting all faults to the Duty Managers / Maintenance Engineer
4.8
Ensure compliance with Centre procedures, relevant legislation and guidelines in the operation of the Centre
4.9
Any other duties related to the post as determined by the General Manager
NB
The post holder may be required to work at any of the Trusts centres. The demands of the service are such that the post holder is required to work irregular and unsociable hours within the following times:
Monday to Sunday 5.30a.m. to 11.00p.m.

PERSONAL REQUIREMENTS
5.1
Previous experience with ‘front of house’ operations, cash handling and card transactions and answering the telephone
5.2
Previous experience of customer care in the service industry, or in administration/financial support services
5.3
A confident, friendly manner with the ability to effectively communicate with the public
5.4
A proven record of initiative and working within an integrated team
