Are you an energetic, active professional who loves using movement, sport, and positive energy to engage young people? Do you have the resilience and heart to support secondary students who face significant learning challenges?
Zen Educate is seeking a vibrant, sporty, and experienced Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated Special Resource Base (SRB) within a mainstream secondary school. This is a full-time, long-term role supporting lower-ability learners and students with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD).
The Role: Energy Meets Empathy
In this role, no two days are the same. You won't just be sitting at a desk; you will be actively moving, motivating, and guiding students who require a highly hands-on approach to learning.
Your day-to-day will involve:
- Engaging Through Movement: Using your active, sporty background to lead or assist in adapted physical activities, sensory circuits, and movement breaks that help students regulate and focus.
- Tailored Learning Support: Breaking down secondary-level concepts into accessible, engaging pieces for lower-ability learners.
- PMLD Support: Assisting students with profound and complex needs. This includes managing sensory diets, helping with speech and language exercises, and supporting personal care/mobility needs with dignity and respect.
- Building Connection: Acting as a positive, resilient role model for students who may find traditional communication or learning environments overwhelming.
What We Are Looking For
- The Right Energy: A sporty, active, and proactive mindset. Whether you coach a local team, enjoy fitness, or just have high natural energy, you know how to bring enthusiasm to a room.
- Solid Experience: Previous experience working with children or young adults with Special Educational Needs (SEN), specifically PMLD, severe learning difficulties, or complex physical needs.
- Secondary School Awareness: An understanding of the social and emotional challenges faced by secondary-aged students (ages 11–16).
- Team Players: Someone who works seamlessly alongside class teachers, therapists, and parents to deliver top-tier support.
- Commitment: This is a full-time, long-term role. We need someone looking for stability who wants to become a core part of our school community.
Why Join This School?
- A fully equipped, modern Special Resource Base with excellent sensory and physical activity resources.
- A welcoming, tight-knit team of educators and specialists who collaborate daily.
- Ongoing professional development and specific training tailored to the students' needs.
The opportunity to make a massive, visible difference in the daily lives of remarkable young people.
