About the Role
A specialist SEN school in SE11 is seeking a compassionate and motivated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team. This is a rewarding opportunity to support children and young people with a range of additional needs within a nurturing, structured, and well-resourced learning environment.
The school supports pupils with Autism (ASC), Moderate to Severe Learning Difficulties (MLD/SLD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), speech and language needs, and complex communication difficulties. You will work closely with teachers, therapists, and other support staff to help pupils access learning, build confidence, and achieve their individual EHCP outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEN
- Support pupils with learning, communication, and emotional development
- Assist in implementing EHCP targets and personalised learning plans
- Encourage independence, confidence, and positive engagement in learning
- Use communication tools and sensory strategies to support individual needs
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and multidisciplinary teams
- Support pupils with personal care where required
- Help maintain a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment
What We’re Looking ForEssential:
- Experience working with children or young people with SEN
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Patient, caring, and resilient approach
- Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and colleagues
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
- Right to Work in the UK
Desirable:
- Experience supporting pupils with ASC, MLD, SLD, PMLD, or speech and language needs
- Knowledge of PECS, Makaton, AAC, or sensory-based learning approaches
- Experience within a specialist SEN school, mainstream school, or care setting
- Relevant qualifications in education, childcare, or health and social care

Pay: £100.58-£114.59 per day
