Job summary
VMS Autocare, the vehicle security division of VMS Automotive, is seeking an enthusiastic Vehicle Security Installer to join our growing team. You'll be responsible for installing insurance-approved trackers, immobilisers, and dash cameras across the Purley and Croydon area, both on-site and mobile. This is a hands-on technical role for someone with a genuine passion for vehicles and security and a strong drive to do well. We welcome applicants at all levels: if you have no experience, we'll train you up and fund the certifications you need; if you're already experienced, we'll reward that with a higher salary. Either way, you'll be joining a professional, quality-focused business with real opportunities to develop your skills. This is a part-time position with an immediate start available.
Duties
- Install insurance-approved GPS trackers, immobilisers, and dash cameras in a wide range of vehicles
- Work both on-site and mobile across the Purley, Croydon, and surrounding areas
- Remove and refit vehicle trim, panels, and fixtures professionally, leaving every vehicle as clean as you found it
- Read and interpret wiring diagrams to plan and carry out installations correctly
- Solder, strip, cut, and route wiring to a clean, professional standard
- Program and configure security devices to manufacturer specifications
- Use high-end diagnostic equipment to identify and resolve faults on installs
- Fault-find on vehicle electrical and CAN Bus systems
- Obtain and maintain the required manufacturer and installer certifications (funded for the right candidate)
- Deliver a professional, courteous experience to every customer
- Multitask and maintain quality while working to deadlines and under pressure
Skills
- A genuine passion for vehicles and vehicle security, with the drive to succeed
- Willingness to learn car wiring and develop a solid understanding of CAN Bus systems (or existing knowledge if experienced)
- Ability to remove and refit vehicle trim and panels cleanly and professionally
- Ability to solder, strip, and cut wires cleanly and safely
- Confidence reading wiring diagrams and carrying out fault-finding
- Ability to use high-end diagnostic equipment effectively
- Strong problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail
- Good organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks
- Excellent communication and a professional manner with customers
- A full UK driving licence is preferred
