The Rhydspence Inn has been welcoming guests for more than 600 years, with the current inn dating back to the 1580s.
We are an independently owned country inn near Hay-on-Wye, known for quality food and friendly, attentive service. We take pride in using excellent ingredients and preparing our dishes to a consistently high standard.
The Role
We are looking for a passionate and reliable Chef de Partie or Junior Chef to join our friendly kitchen team.
This role would suit either an experienced Chef de Partie or an ambitious Junior Chef who is ready to take the next step in their career. You will work closely with our Head Chef and the rest of the kitchen team, taking responsibility for your own section according to your experience.
Your Responsibilities
- Preparing, cooking and presenting dishes to our menu specifications
- Managing your section and ensuring it is fully prepared for service
- Maintaining consistently high standards of quality and presentation
- Assisting with the development of new dishes and menu ideas
- Keeping the kitchen clean, organised and safe
- Following all food hygiene and health and safety procedures
- Working closely with the wider team to ensure services run smoothly
- Assisting with stock control and reducing food waste
What We’re Looking For
- Previous experience working in a professional kitchen
- A good understanding of ingredients, cooking methods and kitchen equipment
- A genuine passion for food and a willingness to learn
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- The ability to remain calm and focused during busy services
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and bank holidays as required
- Due to our rural location, a driving licence and access to your own car are essential

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: £13.00-£15.00 per hour
