Qualified Teacher / Lead Tutor – Horwich
Kip McGrath Horwich is looking for a reliable, professional and committed qualified teacher to join our growing tuition centre.
This is a part-time evening role and would suit a qualified primary teacher, part-time teacher, supply teacher seeking regular work, or an experienced teacher looking for a steady professional role outside the school day.
We are particularly interested in someone confident teaching primary and lower Key Stage 3 students in English and/or maths.
About the role
We are looking for a qualified teacher who can work regularly on:
- Wednesday evenings
- Thursday evenings
There may also be the opportunity for further hours as the centre continues to grow.
Students attend structured 60-minute lessons in small groups, with individual learning programmes planned through the Kip McGrath system. Lessons are calm, purposeful and supportive, with resources and training provided.
Teachers are expected to arrive in good time before lessons to prepare and ensure a calm, organised start to the session.
A role with responsibility
This is not an occasional or ad-hoc tutoring role.
For the right person, this role has the potential to develop into a trusted evening lead/key holder position at our Horwich centre.
Over time, and with training, this could include:
- setting up the centre before sessions
- supporting the smooth running of the evening
- teaching small groups of students
- speaking professionally with parents when needed
- dealing calmly with any minor issues that arise
- closing and locking up the centre at the end of the evening
- becoming a trusted and valued part of the Horwich team
We are looking for someone who is:
- a qualified teacher
- reliable and able to commit to fixed weekly evenings
- calm, confident and professional
- suited to teaching primary and lower Key Stage 3 students
- comfortable supporting English and/or maths
- able to build positive relationships with children
- confident speaking with parents
- organised and able to follow centre routines
- happy working independently once trained
- interested in becoming part of something long-term
Pay
The teaching rate is £30 per hour.
Once fully trained and appointed as a key holder/evening lead, an additional responsibility payment will be made to reflect the extra responsibility of opening, supporting the smooth running of the centre and locking up.
The right person
This role would suit someone who enjoys teaching but wants a different pace from the school day. You may be working part-time, doing supply work, returning to education after a break, or looking for a regular evening role where you can make a real difference.
We are looking for someone who wants to be part of the centre, not just someone looking for occasional extra tutoring.
Reliability, professionalism and commitment are essential.
Essential requirement
Applicants must be qualified teachers.
All appointments are subject to appropriate safeguarding checks, including DBS clearance.
