We are looking to employ an Operations Manager for a permanent, hybrid position requiring regular nationwide travel.
Envirofield is an independent contract field trials company, proudly responsible for delivering high-quality agricultural and amenity trials for customers across the industry. We are now looking for an Operations Manager to facilitate business growth and operational excellence. This is more than an operational management position, our successful candidate will have the opportunity to help transform and develop the way Envirofield operates, through strengthening systems, processes and team capability while supporting the growth of the business and its customer base. Working closely with the Managing Director, Technical Director and Trials Managers, this role will provide leadership across the Trials Team and ensure the efficient, high-quality delivery of contract trials.
This role will require weekly travel to our site in Bury St Edmunds, as well as occasional nationwide travel too. The successful candidate will also be able to work from home around their travel commitments.
What you’ll do:
- Lead the successful delivery of Envirofield’s field trials, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on time and to the highest standards of quality.
- Lead, manage and develop the Trials Team, building capability, accountability and a strong culture of performance and continuous improvement. Upskill the team through training, coaching and learning opportunities to ensure the highest quality of trial delivery.
- In collaboration with the Managing Director and Technical Director, act as a key point of contact for customers, building and maintaining strong, long-term relationships with customers, growers, agronomists and industry contacts.
- Identify and develop opportunities to grow Envirofield’s agricultural and amenity trials business, supporting the continued development of the customer base.
- Take commercial ownership of projects, including quotations, pricing, negotiations and profitability, ensuring we deliver value for customers while supporting business growth.
- Work closely with the Managing Director, Technical Director and Trials Managers to align operational delivery with customer requirements, business priorities and trial protocols.
- Drive improvements to systems, processes and ways of working, identifying opportunities to increase efficiency, quality, consistency and health and safety initiatives across the Trials Team.
What you’ll bring:
- Proven senior experience within agricultural field trials, with a strong understanding of trial protocols and ORETO requirements.
- Experience leading and developing a team, with the ability to motivate people, manage performance and build technical capability.
- Strong commercial awareness and customer relationship management skills, with experience of developing business opportunities and managing project pricing.
- Excellent organisational and coordination skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and ensure projects are delivered to deadline.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to work effectively with customers, growers, agronomists and senior stakeholders.
- A proactive and improvement-focused approach, with the ability to identify opportunities to make the business more efficient and effective.
This role comes with a company vehicle as significant travel will be required.
The salary for this role will be dependent on qualifications, skills and previous experience.
Pay: £40,000.00-£55,000.00 per year
