Job Title: Careers Assistant
Reports to: Assistant Headmaster
Start Date: September 2026
Hours: 14.5 hours per week, term time only, plus one week (Flexible working pattern will be considered by negotiation)
Salary: NJC Scale Points 3-4 (Actual salary £8,530 per annum)

KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- To support the Careers Coordinator in providing independent careers advice, guidance and support on subject options and post-school choices for students in Years 7-13.
- To support the Careers Coordinator in providing independent careers advice, guidance and support on subject options and post-school choices for students in Years 7-13.
- To support the Careers Coordinator in establishing and maintaining a network of parents, alumni and employers to provide guidance on specific careers.
- To support the Careers Coordinator in organising, promoting and co-ordinating a structured programme of careers events for students.
- To provide guidance to students on completing application forms, interview techniques and assessment centres.
- To utilise a variety of communication/social media channels to promote career resources e.g. Teams, LinkedIn.
Work Experience, Volunteering and Insight Programmes
- To make relevant links with local employers and education business partnerships to identify relevant work experience opportunities.
- To support Year 10-13 students in identifying and applying for possible work experience placements.
- To complete references for students applying for work experience, volunteering and insight programmes.
- To develop the use of Unifrog for the application and approval of Work Experience placements
- To undertake an annual audit of all work experience undertaken by students.
Middle School Careers
- To organise and coordinate the Year 10 Careers based activities during Activities Week.
- To organise meetings with each Year 11 student to discuss their post-16 plans, including providing specific independent advice and guidance for students who may be considering alternative pathways to the K.E.S. Sixth Form.
- To attend GCSE Options Evening and answer any questions from students and parents. Sixth Form Careers
- To coordinate the Old Edwardian Mentoring Programme for Year 12 students
- To attend Sixth Form Open Evening and answer any questions from prospective students and parents.
